The father of the groom, an old friend from Denver, and the Gran-Pa(me) got together yesterday to solve a few of the major problems 'afore they surfaced. All decided to try a few of the 94s' so opened the following. St Clement, Arrowood, Groth, Conn Creek Anthology, Joseph Phelps Napa, and BV Tapestry. My mental notes are sketchy to say the least but here's a 'membrance. St. Clement brite ruby fruits, high floral notes. Still needs a little time. Super offering. 20 on issue 89/92. Arrowood. Think I've reported on this but it's still a killer bottle. Lots of stuffing, plenty of structure and lovely rounded tannins to carry it another 3-5. Will develop into a stunning bottle. 30. 92/92. Like the Arrowood, this is a great bottle in the making. Has more spicy nuances along with the massive black and red fruits. 35. 92/90. I reported on the Anthology earlier this week..'haint changed. Seduced all them dudes. The Phelps Napa is a big booger. Will be another 5 before it calms down. And the BV Taperstry is another wine I've reported on. A world class bottle. Tomorrow's the big day. WW

I can't relate to the wines but I always love your notes....

I'd sleep through the whole affair if I sampled even HALF of those goodies! Agree with Drew on the notes.

Gosh, you opened soooo many great wines! Wish I were there! But heck, the Arrowood '94 is the ultimate! Could you recommend something else that rivals this wine at a similar price? I have only one bottle left and I'm selfish! Thanks.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you Vinman but I was off the board for almost a week. There are still some 97 Beringer Alluviums' available here in Phoenix that are super wines. Since Dick sold his winery I haven't talked to him but will monitor the 99 very closely. Groth, Forman, Fisher, and Pride are other fine producers to look into. WW

Your suggestions fit perfectly! Never thought there would be the Alluvium that you suggested in our market. But captured one today, just have to drive 120 to pick it up! That's OK.

Forgot Vinman. Another late 97 arrival that I think is fantab fer the buck is the Robert Sinskey Reserve. Showed up here in the Phoenix market last month. The case price here was 30 per clatter which I thot was a mis-mark. Rated the lil' baby a solid 91/95. WW
