Every now and then you get the ring.
Stopped in a favorite store on the way back from a golf outing today just below the Conowingo dam on the Maryland/Pennsylvania line. He had the above wine on the shelf. Now I generally won't buy a 7 year old wine on a shelf in a warm liquor store but the 3 bottles he had looked brand new, no dust or age to the label. I bought the 3 and popped one on arrival at home...holy mother of best buys in a liquor store that caters to bikers!. New color, black ruby, with no appearance of age at all. Flavors of cassis, dark fruit, port, tobacco, dark chocolate and a raspberry note on the finish. Well balanced with youthful tannins still present, it's like I purchased this wine in 2004. After opening I called the store and purchased the rest of their inventory for $12.99 per. 14.5 Alc/vol. 10 bottles total.
