What is the best wines to serve with Lamb Chops? (baked, & grilled)

What is the best wines to serve with Crown Roast Rack of Lamb?

Thanks and have a SUPER day!

Last night I had a dinner of lamb chops--grilled--with a sauce of Madeira, soy and beef stock with shallots, garlic and rosemary. The lamb went well, as it often does, with a wine including syrah; the one I had was in fact a blend of syrah, grenache, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, and it was produced in Languedoc, Coteaux du Besille--quite a match.

Most lamb dishes are fine with a peppery syrah (shiraz) from anywhere, or a Rhone or Spanish wine heavy in garnachia (grenache) or monastrell (mourvedre)--Carchello, from Jumilla, comes to mind, heavy in mourvedre.

If the sauce isn't sweet -- basically, natural juices -- it's hard to go wrong with a Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux.

If the sauce is sweet -- like a Port sauce or finished with Madeira -- then, yes, stick to a Syrah based wine (especially Shiraz from Australia) which has sweet, fragrant fruit tones in the aroma and flavor (although these reds are dry).

If you need kosher wine, look for Baron Herzog. Don't know if he makes a syrah, but he does make a decent cabernet sauvignon, which is a much better alternative to Manischewitz.
