- Rachel Shepherd - 08-10-2002 I am wondering if a body gets used to the effects of wine. I drink a glass with dinner several times a week. I especially like to have a glass at parties or gatherings because it makes me more at ease and more social. If I start to drink a glass every night when I get home from work will my body get used to it so that I don't get the effect I have enjoyed? - winoweenie - 08-10-2002 Hi Rachel and welcome to the board. All I can relate is my own experience....I've had more than a glass a night for over 35 years and look forward to every drop. WW - Bucko - 08-11-2002 I thought that was 35 glasses a night for the last year and don't remember a drop...... It sounds to me as if you are asking if there is such a thing as increasing tolerance for alcohol. Well, there is, but the extent depends on the person. If you drink a glass every day, it's probable that you'll need to drink a little more over time to achieve those "effects" you like. But I think that the enjoyment you get from the actual wine-drinking experience -- taste, etc. -- would make the trade-off worth it. |
