- Scoop - 06-01-2000 In today's Wall Street Journal (6/1/00) there is a strong editorial ("Those Musty Wine Laws") attacking Senator Hatch's "Twenty-First Amendment Enforcement Act", as well as the whole 3-tier, wholesaler-dominated wine distribution system. Their main point: "Favoring in-state economic interests over out-of-staters directly violates the commerce clause." This has "Supreme Court case" written all over it. The editorial ends by saying "...it's now time to free winemakings's legal and legitimate entrepreuners." Amen. Kudos to the WSJ. Cheers, Scoop [This message has been edited by Scoop (edited 06-01-2000).] - winoweenie - 06-01-2000 Scoop, Don`t you think the Curmster is up there swirling his glass and smiling Ear-To-Ear. Winoweenie - Scoop - 06-01-2000 No doubt. I'm sure he would also smile on supportive letters-to-the-editor, too. May the spirit move! Scoop - anna - 06-01-2000 That is just way too cool. Curmy, we're still doing everything we can down here to make things better... - Thomas - 06-01-2000 Hey, wait a minute. I would like to see curmy (never met him in person) and if that is ever going to happen he best not be "up there" for we will likely miss each other.... Wherever he is, I know JDM is happy over the news, as we all are. I often disagree with the WSJ--but maybe I have been wrong; Bucko is that possible Bucko? - winoweenie - 06-02-2000 Scoop, I E`D them Before I made the post. Hope all the kids do the same. Winoweenie.Did anyone else see the disgusting sting on 20/20 last nite. One more time the darned press is on a vendetta on the internet shipping thing. Now`s the time we need Curmy`s word-power to tell the idiots it just don`t wash.A 15-year-old girl getting a bottle of booze and a 17-year-old boy getting a bottle of wine. Naturally with the help of their parents and the press. Yhe idiocracy is monumental. No mention as to the time it took between ordering and delivery. WW - Thomas - 06-02-2000 20/20 did a piece on a sting? Can you help with any keywords, etc.? - Bucko - 06-03-2000 For the record: Foodie has never been wrong. <pocketing the $20 bill> Bucko - winecollector - 06-05-2000 Oh, so is that how it works around here? - Thomas - 06-05-2000 Don't keep that bill in your pocket too long--the guy who sold it to me said the ink might fade.... |
