New Georgia law allows shipment of wine that is not already sold within the state. The new law is a bit more restrictive than many consumers would like, but at least it's a start in the right direction. So, it's time to take GA off the felony shipment law list...

you might want to call dan thompson and subscribe to the atlanta wine journal as a way of thanking him for his help on this legislation.also the late, great, jerry mead ( aka the wine curmudgeon ) wrote many articles that effectively influenced legislators all over the country.Believe me anna, this type of legislation doesn`t just fall off a turnip truck.lots of sweat , bllod , and effort was expended. maybe the next time you`ll be a mjor helper. winoweenie

Great news for Georgia, Anna!
Have you received any update on Texas distribution laws? The last I heard, back in February, was that a federal judge had ruled the current restrictions on interstate shipments were illegal, and that the gates would soon swing open on home delivery. Since then, nothing. Zip. Nada. It's been really eerily quiet.

Epi, I`m not chastizing or berating Anna in any way as I have no personal knowledge of whether she did or didn`t work to get the Georgia legislators to see the light. I pointed out that Dan Thompson and some other people were instrumental in seeing this bill thru. I sent a copy of sens` Coffin and Schneider wonderful Nevada bill to my partner in Atlanta. What I was trying to get across is ALL of us can do more than we`re doing to keep our rights from being trampeled by vested interests. Now we need to get the idiots here in AZ to come to the party. If I remember correctly, the wholesalers appealed the Texas case (which would not be surprising). I haven't received any briefs from that case yet; I'll let you know if I hear or receive anything. Since the goal is to make one of the state cases get to the Supreme Court, a lower court victory is only a stepping stone anyway.
Ahh, the wheels of justice turn sooooo slowly!
