Lo and behold, Frank Prial has an article on The WINE SHIPPING ISSUE in today's New York Times "Week in Review" section (6/25/00), which skewers the opposing arguments to purchasing wine via the Internet -- and across state borders.

It should warm the cockles of many on this Board

Free interstate commerce (duh, the Constitution) and free the wines!

Cheers,

Scoop, It`s great that Frank has joined the cause.Every time anyone writes, talks, lectures, sky-writes, or debates the question it helps. Hopefully the guy with the initials Robert Parker jumps in with both feet. Winoweenie

Prial has done a service, to be sure. And it is about time the NYTimes got into the act. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for RP, however. Even though he has had trouble getting wines shipped to him in Maryland, he seems unwilling to make waves, politically. Maybe he works behind the scenes. Anyway, he hasn't any influence over politicos, unless they buy wine based on his usually extremely biased suggestions....

Foodie, your answer intimates that RP may have an agenda. Say It `Aint So Joe. All my purchases for the last 20 are based on deception and avarice and greed and profiteering and, OH what the Hay. Winoweenie

An agenda? Name one wine writer (or magazine, for that matter) that hasn't got an agenda.
