MONTESSORI FAMILY CENTER SUN AND STARS AUCTION SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 1, 2003

Early Childhood Education Program Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its Annual Napa Valley Fundraiser

ST. HELENA, California (December 19, 2002) - The Montessori Family Center, a non-profit preschool serving Napa Valley, today announced its Annual Sun & Stars Wine Auction will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Niebaum-Coppola Winery, in Rutherford. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event - one of the longest-running charity wine auctions in Napa Valley.

"The Sun and Stars Wine Auction is a vital funding source for the Montessori Family Center," said Martha Levy, auction chair and MFC parent. "And this year's auction will be particularly special as we celebrate 20 years of generous donations and support from Napa Valley vintners, businesses and auction participants who have come together for two decades to help ensure high-quality toddler and preschool programs for our local families."

The fundraiser, sponsored by parents and friends of MFC, supports student scholarships and offsets equipment, operating and administrative expenses for the institution’s toddler and primary programs. The auction will feature silent and live lots consisting of rare, vintage wines donated by the Valley's leading winemakers; all inclusive adventure packages, including private parties set in exclusive Napa Valley locations; and goods and services, such as spa treatments, tickets to Bay Area sporting and entertainment events, and artwork from local businesses and artisans. Attendees will also enjoy samplings from a number of renowned Napa Valley restaurants and wineries.

"The Montessori Family Center has played an integral part in the early childhood education of hundreds of Napa Valley children for more than 20 years. Understanding the importance of nurturing children during the preschool years, it comes as no surprise that the Center's graduates have gone on to achieve excellence both in academics and as part of our community, "said Sara Cakebread, alumni parent and MFC board member. "These days, with the costs of early childhood education skyrocketing and the challenge of finding qualified teachers to live and work in St. Helena, we are grateful to our parents and the community for their continued support in helping us maintain the continuity and excellence of the program for children ages 18 months through kindergarten."
