I need help!! I'm hosting a wine tasting bachelorette party for my sister, and yes I am clueless when it comes red to wine. I need help match wines with appetizers. I've been able to come up with a few ideas for a number of white wines, but have no clue when it comes to reds. Please help... Here are the reds I need ideas for the appetizers:
Cabernet Sauvignon
Merlot
Pinot Noir
Red Zin
Syrah
Petite Sirah

Hi ClueLessAboutWine and welcome to the Wine Board. Nice crusty bread and some hard (not too sharp) cheese with go with all of them. I would taste the Pinot first, then the Merlot, and the rest in the order you have them.

Clueless, Why have a regular old party? You're minutes away from one of America's top wine regions. Why not hire a van to take all of you down 99W toward McMinnville and stop at several wineries and wine tasting rooms (that also have some foods to eat with the wine)? I think that would be so much more fun than just sitting in a romm and sipping wine with some appetizers. Everywhere you stop will most likely have some little nibbles and the professionals there can advise you what to sample with the wines. Think outside the box!!

We had originally talked about going wine tasting, but with the cost of hiring a van or limo plus the cost of wine tasting, it got to be too expensive for the college students (which is about half of the invites). So we decide to have everyone bring a different kind of wine and an appetizer that would compliment the wine that they were bringing. Also while the wine tasting is going on we're having one of those romance parties, and then going out on the town after the romance consultant finishes up with her show.

Do those of us in the geriatric set want to know what a "romance party" is? Probably not.
