2010 Gaja ca'marcanda ca'marcanda - TheEngineer - 10-15-2014

Not sure exactly why this wine needs a repetitive name but I suspect Angelo may have sampled a bit too much of his product or else he really hated the negotiations to purchase the property.

It's been a few years since I've tried this, the last time at VinExpo in Hong Kong and Angelo himself poured this and his entire lineup for us. This time, I was surprised that not even Gaia Gaja (yet another example....) was present to pour. but to be sure, this wine more than stands up for itself.

What a beauty. Deep dark fruits and deep oak spices hit hte nose immediately. The texture is something that Gaja just gets so right. The tannins are firm but smooth in that very aristocratic way, brooding when opened up and a super long finish and presence. Fresh but approachable. This is a keeper.
