2004 Chateau Pichon Lalande Comtesse - TheEngineer - 04-07-2014

This was in magnum.

The wine is still very young but very drinkable at this point in time. This is not a profound wine, but it is a very well made and very solid Bordeaux. If the price point were a bit lower, it would be a great Frid night wine on a more regular basis. The slightly muted nose of red and dark black fruits is repeated on the palate, where mid palate, it starts to show more coffee, bits of oak, minerals, and violet flowers. It is in a very nice place right now, good round texture, tannins in check, lovely to drink, decent length and finish. What a nice bordeau should be.

Browny,

It was a very nice bottle indeed and I also had this same bottle at the Chateau in Bordeaux a few years ago. the bottles were very similar, my notes would indicate that the Chateau one was perhaps a it brighter in fruit but very close (that was out of a 750 ml that had never left the Chateau).

Are you a bordeaux person?
