2001 Clos du Papes - TheEngineer - 01-26-2014

A bit of a confused wine this bottle was. Bottled in Magnum, this wine at times seemed both to be a decent drinker and then at times, seemed to disappoint.

The nose was a bit reserved, earthiness, meatiness, dried orange peel, but the lack of density and a real structure seems to point to a wine from a much worse vintage. It drinkes well enough, but it lacked interest. More than once all of us thought what if this was very lightly corked?
