2008 Brunello Di Montalcino Il Poggione - TheEngineer - 09-26-2013

This is a generous wine. For an 08, it is showing really well early, which may indicate that it is not one for the long term, but really rather impressive drinking now and in the immediate future. Large broad, tannic but smooth, perfumey, tobacco, herby on the nose and palate, and a bit lacking in the level of acidity that I would have expected, great overall balance.

Compared to the 2008 Dragomis, it was a bit more rustic around the edges and a bit less elegant but it is a very good wine right now.
