2009 Conn Creek Howell mountain - TheEngineer - 08-18-2013

This is sold only at the winery or through wine clubs. Picked it up at the winery on my last visit. it is not a complete wine persay (used in their blend Fortis) but nice to see the parts that are used. Having tasted Fortis from the same vintage, I'd say that this had a strong impact on the final blend even though it may not be the largest portion of the blend.

Strong mountain fruit is evident, berries, blue berries, some cherries, very fruity up front, almost a hint of sweetness (but fully dry), nicely structured, but a bit one-dimensional. The oakville bottle is much more successfull as it shows much more complexities. Bit of a bruisers but sometimes you need that.
