Let's not take the label in bits, I mean, the words are all there, Grand, Morey, Rousseau, even 1er. This is not a Grand Cru from Rousseau. This is a $21 Santenay from a little known (i.e. less expensive) Ier cru site. I've had it before but had opened it on the shipping day. Still like it but this is more like it.

Lovely little bottle, had expected more of the vintage lushness and had to look a the label again to make sure it was not a say '07 or more likley '08. Lovely frangant nose, elegant, lighter on its feet than most '09's, crunchy and ripe berries and cherry, hint of earthiness in just a right amount to be unobtrusive but like looking at a garden from across the street. Good acidity (like the last one), earthiness leads to a clean minerality, lovely balance.

Certainly not a mind busting Burgundy but this is something special for me as it is incredibly difficult to find compelling burgundy in the $20 range. This is a fantastic deal. I bought 8 and have 7 left. If I had a tasting like this I would have bought 2 cases, drank one as a daily and the other age a few years to see if it will improve.

Opened another one of these last night. Easy drinking but complex enough if you wanted to look a bit deeper. Went great with a beef stew I had in the ole' crock pot.. Love the price!

Needed to do a small dish on the weekend that needed a dash of burg. Popped, this and it was just perfect for lunch. Neat that for a while, I was so focused in on top burgs ($$$$) and had totally ignored $ burgs, and yet I am now getting so much enjoyment (without guilt) from these much less expensive wine.
