'07 Tobin James Lagrein - Innkeeper - 01-02-2013

2007 Tobin James, Silver Reserve, Paso Robles, Lagrein. This is a pitch black wine. Alcohol level is 14.4%. A terrific wine with a terrific meal. We matched it Parkey Stew and hard rolls. A great way to kick off the year.

I've not yet opened mine!

We popped the 2008 tonight; it is now up to 14.6% alcohol, and the list price is stable at $48. It came with the Fall 20010 shipment. As usual it is a pitch black wine, but it not that intimidating. It was as close to an Italian wine with our Italian Wednesday night dinner. It gave both red and black grapes on the nose and upfront. It was very kind it the middle with nice complexity and surprisingly a little cassis thrown in. It finished in long strokes.

We matched it with Penne Rigate, fresh tomato sauce, grated Fiore Sardo; along with broiled Italian Sausages and salad. Yum!

We popped our '09 last night and as usual it was inky black and delicious. The alky has crept up to 15.4%, and I drank all but one glass of it, and went to bed early!

We matched it with rib eye steak, roasted baby Yukon potatoes, and green beans almandine. Yum!

Popped the '10 tonight and drank a half bottle with lamb shank stew on pasta with salad. Yum! Other half bottle saved for later in the fridge.
