Glenfiddich 125 Anniversary Limited Edition - TheEngineer - 12-03-2012

Comes in a pretty little tin box a la Snow Phoenix, this time in Gold and white regalia. Packing includes another stopper, and the customary product literature and limited edition certificate (though how limted is not known).

On the, this one is decidely more smoky, a bit of dried fruits, honey, a bit of herbiness, and toffee. Smooth and lush but at only 40%, it could have used a bit more strength to have a bit of a back. Slightly spicy on the finish.

Nicely constructued Dram.

Upon having this again yesterday, I was wondering whether I liked this better or the snow phoenix better. I don't have a bottle of the other one opened (should have bought a few more back then) but on recall, I think I prefer the Snow Phoenix. Is not that peat in a Glenfiddich is strange but for some reason, snow Phoenix just tastes right, like all those barrels were meant to be together, blended. having said that, I went back for seconds of the 125th anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed that. This is lovely indeed.

Long day. Sat down at the bar and saw this so had a dram. Nice way to cap a long day's travel with a whisky that does not really demand all of your attention but is really nice in every way
