Any ideas on the value/drinkability of 1983 Chateau Lannesin? I realize that '83 is generally not regarded as a "stellar" vintage, but does anyone know about this particular label? Thanks!

Never heard of 'em.........

How about spelled "Chateau Lannessan"? It's a French Bordeaux, in the Medoc region.

Hi wine fairy and welcome to the board. Ch. Lanessan is a very fine producer in the Medoc that is a classified as a Cru Bourgeois Superior. 83 and 84 vintages were not kind to this property. If you don't own any do yourself a favor and buy some of the outstanding 2000 being released now. WW

Lanessan (correct spelling) is a Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois. They usually make the classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. They have been spotty and as WW says, the 83 and 84 are very poorly rated and well past their prime.

Thanks Bucko & WW! There's a case of this wine available locally, & I was wondering whether it would be worth pursuing at the right price, but I think you've both given me my answer. Much appreciated!
