I must admit that I was not a fan of this wine on release. don't get me wrong, I have nothing against hybrids. It was the notion that icewines needed oak and its top end price (over $130 on release for 375 mL) smelled of just some marketing decisions to bring something like this to market.

On relase, it tasted just like they said, there would be oak in my nice Vidal icewine. Not impressed, not bad, just not impressed.

7 years on, I'm impressed. The wine has easily absorbed the oak and the combination results in a more serious dessert wine, more like a nicely aged sauternes than a focused, super fresh icewine. It's a style that perhaps needs a bit more samples on.. Smile Lovely.
