2009 caymus was showing probably better, at least for me, a bit more lighter, crisper of the two, chocolate floral, 70% mountain fruit. Good acidity. Deep cherries ripe fruit. But good acidity and backbone. Med+ body. Long finish. Oak is overt for now but should okay to Absorb.

2009 special select. Much bigger oak, bolder fruit, lush, coffee, coco, better more velvety tannins, good structure but it looks to need more than a few years to absorb all that oak. I had always thought that these were barrel selections but I was told that it was plot selections so they are probably handled differently too.

We have an '06 Special Selections that we don't plan to drink for five years, so the '09 should be ready in 2019.
