Ordered a bottle at Ruth Chris last night in Toronto. Prices are insane up here....$70 for this for dinner.... Oh well...

Decent bottle, nose is fruity with smoe good dose of wood but not overtly so. Good balance, red fruits, plums, small hints of coco and spices, medium plus body and good clean, though slightly short finish.

thanks for the notes. i saw this on a shelf at a wine shop on sunday and gave it some thought, then moved on. used to love this bottling; the '97 was a no-brainer case buy. but it seemed that they just wouldn't stop upping the oak exposure in the early 2000s, and it turned into a major oak bomb for me. so i gave up on it about 5 years ago. good to hear that maybe they've backed off on the wood a little. will pick one up. i imagine this would benefit from a decant?

Hey Newsie. Would love to hear your opinion on it. Yes we most definitely decanted this. There was a bit of a strange metallic note on it when we opened it but it blew off when we decanted it.
