My cellar is approx 180 sqft with nice heart redwood racks and bins. We've painted the walls a nice burnt orange but it just been missing something...
No matter what we did to dress up the racks and the walls, it still had that old cement slab floor... not any longer. Today, 16" x 16" Rajah Multicolor slate is being installed and I can't wait..should finally turn it into a room worth hanging out in..

MR. I've saved approx 60-100 bottles from breakage by putting 9/16ths 10 pound rebond pad under a heavy saxony carpet in my cellar. Slate meets glass...Slate wins. Course my cellar wasn't built for pretty....only practicality. WW

I covered the concrete floor of my cellar with 3'X5' rubber mats from Costco. Works great. 'Course, haven't dropped a bottle in there yet, only on the rocks outside... no rubber mats there.

And I thought you two softened the floor for when YOU hit it........
Tile in mine and I love it. No accidents either........

The only bottle I've ever lost in my cellar with a bare concrete floor was a Hacienda Merlot. No big loss.

WW..
You've dropped between 60 - 100 bottles?? ..and I assume this doesn't include the ones you didn't save prior to adding the padding. I'm speechless.. has Mrs. Winoweenie insisted on padding the floors in the remainder of the house in case you decide to start handling other items as well???? ;+p

walls, too.

I put the carpet down when I built the cellar. Out of all the bottles that have hit the floor only one went down the drain. You must also understand this cellar was built in 1983 when I moved to Phoenix.WW
