Judy and I went up to Nashua, NH yesterday to take my daughter, and SIL, out for dinner in honor of her surviving to 40 yo. Judy had a filet and a bottle of Cab. Daughter and SIL had other stuff with some strange Sangria concoction. Now for my dishes - for the app I had Escargot Bourgogne with a saffron, garlic cream sauce over puff pastry. Entree was Carmelized Sea Scallops over lobster risotto with a sweet orange gastrique. Paired with my meal, I chose a Neil Ellis Sauv Blanc from South Africa (sorry Verne). It's called Sincerely as a take off on Sancerre which it closely resembles. Nice wine that went very well with my meal, but I sure did hate paying restaurant prices!!!

Sounds mighty nice, Bob! Escargots are right up there among my fav little critters! Used to buy cans of 'em at the French commissary in K-town..... seems like there were six dozen to the can. We'd prepare them in garlic butter and devour them all in one sitting, with a loaf of fresh French bread, chunk of Dutch cheese and a bit of salami with a $3 bottle of French red. That's still a celebratory meal for us, with Champagne. Yumsville!
