I was able to try this beside the 12 and 18 year old Macallan's. This is a very different style of Macallan for those of you who are lucky enough to have this drink all the time. I'm not sure I prefer it to the "house style" though but I do like it. Perhaps my scotch tastes have not been firmly planted yet or else perhaps I will approach Scotch with the same variety is wonderful approach that I have with wine and never settle down. I'm not sure.

But I do like this. Lighter is the key word here. Perhaps more fruit, apricot, but the lighter oak allows you to see it more specifically. I thought that the term "Fine Oak" meant "better Oak" but perhaps it means "Lighter on the Oak....". Some spices to be sure, mellow but with a noticeable liveliness to it compared to the 12 and 18.

But I like the 18 too..... and I can afford the 12...... Choices choices..
