I'm not an expert on Armagnac by any means, but I really enjoy the stuff, generally more-so than cognac. Local store had a 15% off sale on all French brandy, so I picked this bottle up for $70. It's their 15 year, distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2006 and it's 100% folle blanche.
Cask strength, this comes in at a wopping 51.9%
This is super, super elegant armagnac, and easy to sip even with the high ABV. It's somewhat sweet with good pear and vanilla notes on the nose. I could smell it all day. It's plenty intense in the mouth, with said pear and vanilla, but loads of spice joins it. It's well-balanced between fruit and wood, between complexity and hedonistic, and it has a really long finish.
Anyway, I like it quite a lot. It's also really good with some young gouda my wife bought (she's eating dairy during her pregnancy and sometimes my veganism slips and I need to make sure what she buys isn't poison. I'm just that loving...).
