Does anyone know a reasonable place to find quality glassware? I've been paying out the nose...

Wine Enthusiast puts out their own line of glassware. I think the price is fair for the product received. They are not "fine crystal", but they are crystal of some sort.
At least I think so as they pass the dampened finger on the rim sound/vibration test to which ordinary glass does not respond.
I check their web site for sales and buy then.
The glassware is most assuredly less expensive than Riedel, but is still nice. And belive me, the Wine Enthusiast line does not leak (like some of the cheap plastic stuff does) when you pour in the wine nor does it fall apart in the dishwasher.

Wine Club sells the real stuff, Riedel Vinum Gourmet, at only $5 a stem. I got 120 of them and have been very pleased at tastings that I occasionally host.

We also like the Vinum series, and they've held up well (although we wash them by hand, rather than putting them in the dishwasher).

Hotwine , I second the Vinium. For 13 bucks a stem they`re the same bowl as the 85 buck sommellier series with machine made stems and they are much sturdier. Great mouth-feel. winoweenie

I was also going to tout the Mikassa stem ware. We've had it on hand here for a number of years and really like it.
Bucko - when is your next wine tasting? If you spend $600.00 on stems, then you must really offer some very fine stuff from under them corks............. Do you hand out souvenier stems?? GRIN [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img] Are they etched with your monogram?

No handouts for you! [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/wink.gif[/img] That is not really all that much. We usually host a tasting for 12 people and do flights of eight wines. That is 96 glasses. Allowing everyone a glass before the tasting for warm-up wines, we are up to 108. Allowing for breakage (especially if WW is around }:> ), you can see that 120 is not that many glasses.
BTW, we have an open door policy at Bucko's B&B. Anyone in the Seattle/Tacoma area always has an open invite for food, wine and clean sheets.
