you might be sick of these questions, but I was given a 1972 Stags Leap Cabernet, cask 23, is this still ok to drink? Will it be able to sit any longer? It was stored correctly in a cool, dark area, at least for the last many many years.

Hi babysail and welcome to the board. I'm a little confused. Warren, to my knowledge, didn't make a Cask 23 until the 74 vintage. His 72 (his 1st release) was SLD only. I've had almost every wine he's produced. Want to check the label again? WW

Wasn't the 1973 the first vintage, WW? I thought his first was the one that beat the biggies in the 1976 Paris tasting.

You may be rite on the Cask 23 KC but his first release along with Clos du Val, Caymus, Diamond Creek and maybe some others was the rather mediocre 72 vintage. The 73 was the wine Spurrier put in the famous Paris tasting along with Ch Montelenas' 74 Chard. WW
