- dananne - 08-16-2007 Thanks to all of you who helped us with suggestions and with our planning. Your kindness is greatly appreciated. We are very excited. Hope everyone has a lovely week, and I'll be sure to post on our travels upon our return. - Kcwhippet - 08-16-2007 Have a great time, guys. I can't wait to read your trip report. - winoweenie - 08-17-2007 Have a ball youse 2. Know you'll have loads of good food and drink. WW - TheEngineer - 08-19-2007 already looking forward to the post! - dananne - 08-27-2007 We're back and had a wonderful time. Alas, today we're also back to work. So, I'll try to get some notes done for posting this evening. Because of time constraints (and because a 30-minute or hour-long tour and tasting can easily turn into 2-hour plus visit), we "only" had time for the following wineries: Scherrer, Lynmar, Swan, Martinelli, Russian Hill, Porter Creek, Rochioli, Selby, Thumbprint, Papapietro Perry, Amphora, Duckhorn, August Briggs, Frank Family, Casa Nuestra, Harvest Moon, Siduri/Novy, Saintsbury, Acacia, and Casa Carneros. Some were by special appointment, some were visits that turned into special appointments, and some were the plain 'ole tasting room stops. The last winery was just a personal visit over glasses of wine around their home dining room table. Some wineries we went out there looking for, and some turned out to be wonderful discoveries. Only a couple small disappointments. Again, though, I'll try and get some notes done tonight, which I'll post in the travel thread below. - wondersofwine - 08-27-2007 Can't wait to view your notes. I'm still hoping to visit Sonoma in October but may not have enough money saved for the trip. |
