Hello. I recently recieved a bottle of Ascheri Barolo Sorano 1998. I understand that it is quite an expensive wine and I was wondering if anyone had any other information about this particular wine. Also if anyone knew when best to drink it?? Thanks, Jim.

I'm not familiar with the particular wine. Traditional Barolos need 10-20 years to mature. Some of the more modern ones may be accessible sooner. You may want to wait until at least 2008 to open it. We do have participants on the board who have greater knowledge of Italian wines so I will defer to their opinions if they answer your query.
Foodie maybe or Roberto?

Thanks. Any extra advice would be appreciated. Jim.
