i recently purchased 6 aged/somewhat aged bordeaux through the tsunami disaster relief action. they arrived today, having been sent overnight via fed ex from the east coast of florida. bottles are plenty cold and i stood them upright immediately (at about 2 p.m.) my question: would this saturday night be too early to drink one of these wines or do they need more time to settle down? i am *considering* opening either a 94 langoa barton or a 96 lafon rochet. help, folks. bordeaux (and shipping wines) not my strong suit.

Drink the Langoa first. The rest period IK suggested is rite on. WW

thank u gentlemen. BTW, the suggested drinking order from the donor of the wines is: 94 Angludet, 96 Poujeaux, 94 Langoa Barton, 96 Lafon Rochet, 96 Ducru Beaucalliou then 98 Leoville Poyferre. and he said drink up over the next 2 years. i was just going to jump ahead because a good friend and wine lover is visiting for dinner.

Newsie, I agree with what the seller suggested. Personally think you'd be safe openiong any of the 94s' for your friend. WW

thanks. gotta say i'm excited to finally get to drink some older bordeauxs. have only tried one aged bordeaux, that was last year when i had a taste of an 89 talbot. was *not* impressed, cause green pepper dominated the nose and taste. i'm expecting better this time.
