HELP! I am an MBA student doing a project on speciality wines, I am having a hard time finding ANY information on Rodney Strong 1992 Reserve, Sonoma. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marcy Henderson

Hi Hendermyl and welcome to the board. Rodney Strong is a Sonoma producer that is normally a chronic underachiever. The 92 Reserve fits into this catagory perfectly. In a vintage that produced mostly beautifully balanced juice, the Strong Res was highly tannic and unbalanced. I have over 60 different winerys 92s in my cellar, and I passed on this one. In fairness, the 97s show some promise. They had a great vineyard site named Alexanders' Crown that was a constant dissapointment. Hope this helps. WW

FWIW, Wine Spectator gave it an 89 rating sampled on 11/15/1996 stating:

"Ripe, smooth and harmonious. Shows a supple core of ripe plum, cherry, currant and mineral flavors, finishing with a touch of spice, herb and cedar. Plenty of tannins show up on the finish, but ther're smooth and round. Drinks well now. $30 (11/15/96) 89"
