GOTTA post this note about this brilliant little Spanish thing I tasted at Click Distributing and got into the shop. UNOAKED blend from Xavier Clua, one of Spain's hot young winemakers.

It's formal name is "El Sola d'en Pol" Terra Alta. Here are my shop notes:

"Xavier Clua is one of Spain’s most talented and sought-after young winemakers. To look at him on his website, you’d think he ought to be lubing his car in the parking lot at the Tacoma Dome before the Monster Truck Show. Well, never judge a book…etc. All the proof anyone needs of Xavier’s skill is right here in this bottle. Of the 2,000 or so wines I’ve tasted in preparing to open this joint, this is one of three that popped into my head at least daily, as wines that say what VinElla’s all about. This is seriously sexy stuff; long, lingering flavors, intense aromas, brilliant color, a virtual produce stand of flavors, and a silky, lazy mouthfeel. It’s suggestive of cloves and nutmeg and cinnamon with toasted bread, blackberry jam, butter, coffee, chocolate, spruce, raspberry candy, sea salt, blueberries, leather…I’m getting’ a little verklempt, here. And this isn’t even in his top tier of wines! There are a lot of wines in here that are worth drinking and admiring. This is one worth drinking and sinking into like your favorite easy chair. With the Palacios Remondo ”Montesa”, up front, further evidence that Spain is fast becoming one of the top wine regions in the world."

It's pretty damned great and you don't miss oak at all. It's just fine all naked like that. I have it for $12.99. It may be a little hard to find but worth it. If you can't find it, our website should be up by the end of October and I'll have a couple of cases to peddle. Or stop by the shop.
