Verne, does having a sweetie half my age count? She still loves stuffed animals and cartoons......

Just back from Rio and exhausted, Roberto

Sounds like she gave you a "sugar-daddy " present. Of course it counts. See you around the 22 or 23. Verne

Just returned from Houston this AM, having worked with sister-in-law to rip out her ruined carpeting and wood floors as result of Allison flood. She said she knew she was in trouble when she saw ducks swimming across her front yard. Houston residential areas on the NW side of the city look like a war zone, with huge piles of refuse in front of nearly every house. Hope you folks up the East Coast have weathered this thing.

Saturday afternoon I drove to Raleigh to visit Carolina Wine Company and have dinner at an Italian restaurant. Was just entering Johnston County on my way back to Fayetteville when warnings came over the car radio that Johnston County was anticipating a storm with 55mph winds, hail and flash flooding. Some streets in Raleigh were already experiencing flash flooding. I did the sensible thing and pulled off I-40 and stayed overnight at the Hampton Inn Clayton. Don't think the winds got that bad and didn't see hail, but very heavy rain for about four hours and flash flooding in four or five counties. Wasn't as bad as Houston though. I sympathize with the Texans. North Carolina had terrible flood damage with Hurrican Floyd a couple years back.

Good coverage of Allison's visit to Houston is available at the Houston Chronicle's website www.houstonchronicle.com. Three feet of rain was enough for folks to start reminding themselves of what a "cubit" is.
