leapt intothe fray full throat ahead. My local pusher had his grand oprning for his new store yesterday starting at 6. A close friend and spouse were to pick us up SOOOO's to make sure I was in stroke I found this orphan bottle of Hogue Cellars 1994 Columbia Valley merlot andfor kicke thot I'd open the suckewr before condeming it to the sink. LO & BEHOLDEN...The sucker lived. Slight browning at the rim but vibrant nose and the flavor of mature red fruits, red licqorise, and spices were lovely. Afraid it mite fade I made short work of the lil' darlin. As the honored guest at the opening was Michael Mondavi I opened a 1996 Mondavi Reserve for my guests on arrival. When the OOHING and AHHING subsuded CB decided she'd have a snort to see what the fuss was about.NEVER AGIN! She LIKED it. They were pouring some pretty solid juice at the party but I settled in on the Penfolds bin 407 2001 and the Stags Leap Napa 2002. Both were very nice. Way too many people, far too much noise, and not enough seating. Served good vittles tho so after an hour and a half we decided to come back to the house. Naturally we needed a dessert wine so out popped a 2000 Wagner Reisling Ice wine. We melted that hummer toot sweet so to cap the nite we decided on a Silver Oak 1996 Napa. The oak has just about integrated with the massive amout of fruit so it capped a lovely nite. I slept wonderfully and quite long. Musta' really been tired?
