an Endodentist taking a shot at doing my root canal. It was beyond the expertise of my regular dentist who tried it last week and couldn't find ANY of the 3 roots she was supposed to canal. Hopefully this guys' a specialist who can find them suckers and get'um done. WW

I've had eight or nine root canals over the years and never had any kind of a problem during or after; whether with a plain ole dentist or a specialist. The last one I went to had the whole thing live on his puter so you see what the problem was, and how he was doing with it.

Have had problems with other dental situations such as impacted wisdom teeth.

Good luck WW. I've been through it twice (with an endodontist or oral surgeon).

My wife had a root canal approx 3yrs ago, and is now having problems with the same tooth. Our new dentist has taken really neat digital xrays and shown where the prior procedure stopped short of the root, (the shortage very apparent in the images); thus now scheduled for another deal on the same tooth the first of the insurance's new fiscal year. Old dentist was a few yrs from retiring and didn't put forth the needed effort... be sure to be sure! WP

I guess I didn't finish...He sent her to an endodontist, wont do it himself, but I, who only needs a cap without the canal he will do. WP

Maybe you can get your colonoscopy at the same time!

Perhaps not directed directly to me, having recurrent diverticulitis, thats on my schedule for prior to years end, why wait for 50 for what's bound to be a great experience? Where's the fleets?! WP

Well after 1&1/2 hours in the torture chair this VERY good dental guy said the only words I dint wanna' hear...' This sucker can't be saved. I could do the canal and in 6 months you'll have to have the hummer pulled as it's a busted sucker. Then......He almost gasve the old ticker it's last moments when he said " I'm not charging you for this. Use the 800 for the Implant". Ennybody top this'un? WW

- hotwine - 08-08-2007

No way! You got a good 'un.

- bigredwines - 08-09-2007

No lunch meeting at the club today.WW, hope you get in today to get that sucker pulled so you can start feeling better.Nothing worse than an infected tooth.

All attempts at saving this bloomin' tooth have failed so this morn I get that hummer pulled. Bye-bye you hurtin sucker. WW

- winoweenie - 08-13-2007

Well me daelin' lil cute dentist person ran into more problems taking this bugger out. Seems like the 2 roots decided they were perfectly happy with their home and had to be drug kicking and screaming from their home for the last 70 or so years. She finally got both out after 1 hour of extreme physical exertion. What's even worse, I can't have so much as a glass of wine until tomorrow. Life is an outhouse. WW

That sucker was probably rooted in your bunghole -- a severe case of cranioproctitis if I ever saw one. That'll be twenty bucks, pay the lady out front...

- Kcwhippet - 08-13-2007

Hmmm, I do believe I've heard of that referenced cranioproctitis. Seems to me it's accompanied by rampant CH.

When I was at Bragg as a newly-minted butter-bar a bazillion years ago, I sat straight up in bed late one night with sudden terrible pain in one tooth. Took only aspirin then went in to dental sick call the next morning. Walking in the door, could hear someone screaming his head off in a back room. Explained my problem to the young medic, he said sure, have a seat, we'll be right with you. The screamer's still going strong. Called me in, sat me in a chair, the dentist looked in my mouth, injected Novacain, said he'd be right back. More screaming. He came back in, said open wide, pulled a hammer and chisel from behind his back and went "BAM!" like Emeril Lagasse. OK, spit, he said, you can go. But Doc, what about the screamer? Oh, he's got the same thing you had.... an impacted wisdom tooth. The only difference is his roots are hooked.

That bugger was still screaming as I walked out the door.

They gave me Darvon but I flushed it down the john and stuck with aspirin. No more problems.

- Bucko - 08-13-2007

Man, that makes me hurt...

- winoweenie - 08-14-2007

Tis the morning after and no acute pain as yet so the medicine can stay in the bottle and the cabernet can be poured for lunch. Life be good agin. WW

- Georgie - 08-14-2007

Glad you're doing ok, my friend. I had a bad experience with the dentist last summer...dentist did a root canal on me and I was in so much pain the next day I had to go to an oral surgeon to have it pulled. I still had to pay full price for the root canal that was in my mouth for less than 24 hours. That really annoyed me. I'll go with extraction immediately next time, depending on where the tooth is located!

- winoweenie - 08-14-2007

my extraction cost me 550 and coulda' been 1350 without the nice gesture of the endodontist. WW

- Bucko - 08-14-2007

How many does that leave you now, Georgie, three or four teeth?
