I'm a bit of a camea buff (budding versus actually good and improving). It's in the blood...grandfather was quite accomplished at it (at least the desire is in the blood, perhaps not the skill). Anyways, I always had a camera close by starting in High School.
I shot film all through University and mostly film up to about 2001. In fact, I did not even have an automatic until 1999, (shot with my trust Nikon F3 until I picked up an N90). I hated digital cameras, abhoard digital manipulation of the shot (you should have taken it correctly the first time....). Then I bought a D100.......I never picked up film again.
Last year I sold the D100 after a lengthly (for digital) service of 4 years. I was without a digital SLR for almost 6 months so yesterday, I picked up a Nikon D80 (took me two weeks to decide between the D200 or D80, finally my wallet won over my heart). Now I have it in my hand...I've had it in my hand all night....along with a stupid grin. Feels right again.
