Beautiful appearance of bright ruby in the glass. Nose was fairly simple, sweet cherry. Taste was the same cherry with a touch of raspberry mixed in. Gentle tannins showed beneath the tounge. Very light feel and taste to this juice. 12.5% alc. $20 range. I was expecting something a bit fuller since it was a burgundy, I suppose they too make various styles for different tastes. WP

Winophite, your tasting note sounds fairly typical for an entry level bourgogne. You may encounter fuller flavors and body as you go up to village and premier cru Burgundies but Pinot Noir in general is a "softer" grape than Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah, etc. It is not lacking in acid but is less tannic than many red grapes which is part of its attraction for me. Some New World Pinot Noirs utilize extraction from grapeskins to add more color and concentration to the wine. With an outstanding vineyard, good vintage and reliable producer in Burgundy, extraction is not needed to achieve fullness, but the generic bourgognes are usually light, easy drinking wines. So I find your tasting note to be quite perceptive and right on!

Thanks for that info WOW as well as the vote of confidence. Hope to gain more PN experience before my first Lorings (05) are ready to open in a mere 18 months or so. WP

I just placed my order for some of Brian Loring's 2006 releases (to be shipped in October.) They definitely are fuller in body than what you were describing for the Jadot.
