Master Thorp, if you are in Centreville and I am in Reston, that puts us all of ten miles from one another. Twelve if you live on the skirts of Clifton or way, way down in Singelton's Grove or out on Stone Road. I used to be the Circulation Director for DCI Publishing (the "CentreView" and "Manassas Gazette")back when Centreville was a 2-light Crossroads at Rts 28 & 29.
If you are a beginning wine enthusiast, or dabbling to establish a "potential" hobby (as I am) please consider our proximity. My female consort is only annoying a few days every month. I'm vulgar and barely employable for want of better social graces. On the positive side we have the entire stockrooms of a dozen wine shops, Harris Teeter, Giant & Safeway Groceries, and an entire Central/South/Appalachian Virginia Wine region to exploit.
Consider this an invitation and if nothing else some encouragement for facing something unknown in wines . . . it's a lifelong passion which pays numerous fantastic dividends. Like comparing a Van Gogh to a Gaugin to a Renoir, or learning the fundamentals of Boxing, knowing just a little, little bit puts you LIGHT years ahead of the next several dozen people.
And learning about alcohol can't be ALL BAD, can it?
