- Machforce1 - 01-10-2002 I am also looking for a good bottle of Sauternes, but don't want to shell out $200+ for a bottle of Yquem. Any suggestions? - hotwine - 01-10-2002 You might try a Chateau Suduiraut. I paid $70 for one in '98, but haven't had a Sauternes since. Maison Nicolas also has one that's available in half-bottles for $9.99. - Thomas - 01-11-2002 If you can find dessert wines from Loupiac you will benefit greatly; they are good and they cost a lot less than their neighbors in Sauterne. Loupiac is also produced from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon late harvest grapes. - wondersofwine - 01-14-2002 I've had the Suduiraut (is this the right spelling?) once and really enjoyed it. I thought it had a distinctly nutty flavor as well as the sweetness of a dessert wine. |
