- peachesbabee - 02-03-2004 HELLO, I AM IN SEARCH OF A CERTAIN WINE, THAT WAS A FAVORITE OF MY WIFE'S AND AM NOT SURE HOW TO GO ABOUT FINDING IT. THE NAME OF THE WINE, AS SHE REMEMBERS IT, IS MAXIM. I AM IN A DESPERATE SEARCH TO FIND IT FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY, AND AM IN NEED OF SOME ASSISTANCE OR AT LEAST A POINT IN THE PROPER DIRECTION......HELP. PEACHESBABEE. - Innkeeper - 02-03-2004 Hi Peaches, and welcome to the Wine Board. Could it be Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Spatlese, C.Von Schubert? It is a white wine (riesling) that runs around $30 per bottle. - wineguruchgo - 02-03-2004 If it is a red wine it might be Maximus out of California. One of the nicest wines I've had in a long time. I always thought that Miximus from California was brewed, not vinted. - wineguruchgo - 02-04-2004 Not "Miximus " it's Maximus - like Circus Maximus! It's actually named Bennett Lane Maximus and here is a link to their winery. Little tiny producer that just entered Chicago market. I chose to give you the stats on the 01 because they are saying it will rival 97'. http://www.bennettlane.com/wines/01nvmaximus.php My take on the wine? Big, round, velvety, deep, chewy flavors that just don't quit. I love it. Brought it into the restaurant the minute I tried it. [This message has been edited by wineguruchgo (edited 02-03-2004).] |
