I have a recipe calling for sherry. What can I substitute for sherry?

Are you looking for a non-alcoholic alternative? If it's just that you don't have sherry on hand, you might be able to substitute madeira, port, marsala or even a dry white wine. If you are looking for a non-alcoholic substitute, it depends on the recipe--maybe pan juices, or fruit juice depending on the ingredients and method of cooking, etc.
