I've been given the responsibility of choosing the wines for my wedding. I have already picked the red - Monticello 1997 Jefferson Cuvee Cabernet Sauv.
Now I need some suggestions for the white wine(s). I've heard from some that I should actually have white zinfandel available! the guest list is about 130-150 people. I wanted some ideas on a white for under 10 dollars.
So if you've had some great, inexpensive whites lately, let me know!

For those that enjoy a rich chardonney that's slightly oaked try R.H. Phillips "Toasted Head"...delicious and $10 or less. I had the 97' two weeks ago and it was very enjoyable.

You actually know about Virginia Wine in Frisco! I'm surprised and impressed and glad to hear that Jefferson Vineyard is so well known.

I agree that you will need some White Zin, but you can cheat and buy Bonny Doons Vin Gris and not feel as dirty about it. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/wink.gif[/img] As for white wine I would get a good sauvignon blanc, as it's fairly well known as far as grape variatels go so most folks will know/like it, and it will go better with the food then most (over-oaked ) chardonnays. I prefer one from my home state of Washington, Covey Run Reserve.
(It always amazes me the price differences for each state. I can't buy Toasted Head at cost for less then $10 unless it's on a post-off. )

Don't think me the complete idiot.........
There is a Monticello apellation in Virginia at the Jefferson Vineyards near the Shenandoah Mountains. These are the very same vineyards which Thomas Jefferson tried so hard to make successful back in the late 1700's and early 1800's.
Their Monticello Jefferson Cabernet Sauvignon is pretty darn good.
Or were you talking about the stuff that also uses the name Monticello that comes from California?

I was talking about the 1997 Jefferson Vineyards Monticello Cabernet Sauvignon from the Charlottesville, Virginia area.

At the risk of being mundane, our "everyday" white is Bonny Doon Ca Del Solo Malvasia Bianca. Fruity but dry with no real oakiness, goes with everything we've put it with, and around $8 a bottle by the case (may have gone up a little, been a while since we've laid in supplies...)
