Okay...I tried the first wine that was recommended to me tonight. It was an E & J Cafe Zinfandel. Since it is a red, I though it was suppose to be at room temp. However, it managed to make it's way into the fridge before I got to it. I poured a glass anyway and loved it chilled. I sipped on it until it warmed up a bit and found that I didn't like it as well. Are Zin's somewhat an exception to the rule, " Reds room temp, whites chilled "?? Or are the lines begining to blur between the two??

Or do I have no idea what I'm talking about????=-) Distinct possibility...

Almost all reds should be served 'slightly' chilled, most like me are just too lazy to do it. 'Room temperature' has traditionally meant room temperature in Europe, not our toasty centrally heated homes in North America. A little chill usually refreshes the fruit quite nicely in most reds. The lighter the wine, the closer to 60F you want to chill it. That usually just means several minutes in the fridge.

Hi sweetirish. Enlighten me. I`ve never run into E&J Gallo "Cafe" Zinfandel. Is that what`s on the label? Confused as usual in Phoenix. winoweenie ( After refleting could it possibly " California" Zin?

WW...=-) I looked again just to make sure...the label reads.. E & J Gallo...California Cafe Zinfandel. I was pretty sure that's what it said because it was recommended and I specifically looked for that name...

CCK & sweetirish....L.I.B!! Will they next market E&J "7-11" Zin or E&J "On The Run" Zin or perhaps E&J "J.C. Penney"Zin? Fragmented, double-barrelled scatter-shot marketing at its` zenith. winoweenie
