For our 1st Annivesary this sunday i want to buy my husband a bottle of red wine that we will keep until our 50th anniversary. can someone give me some suggestions for types of wine that do well to age this long? and better yet... affordable ones?
Thanks!
Desiree

Hi Desiree, and welcome to the Wine Board. Well, I laid down a '95 Brunello di Montalcino for our 50th anniversay, but it comes up in '13. The only wine I would hang my hat on to last 49 years would be a Vintage Port. Then, it would have to be stored very carefully during that time.

Hi Lovebunny and welcome to the board. The parameters you've set have not been available since the mid-60s' when Latour, Mouton and Lafite 59s' were selling for 3 bucks per bottle. ANY bottle of juice that will do the big 5OH is selling in the 250-300 per clatter range. Life's a Beach! WW
