Hi all

My boyfriend likes a good glass quite often and is trying to get me to join him. However I haven't been able to find anything I like. I tend to like sweet things, so could anyone recommend the sweetest white and red wines.

Thanks

Hi Meety and welcome to the board.

Blush wines can be rather sweet tasting. A white zin or white merlot might do the trick. Either one should be chilled before serving.

Not sure if you will be able to find White Zin or White Merlot. I'm thinking it's more of an American item.

Another route you can go is German Riesling for white and Lambrusco for red. I know your fellow countrymen make Riesling as well, yet you want one that doesn't have a dry finish. If you look at the lable the lower the alcohol (9%) the sweeter the wine will be (generally).

If you have a nice wine shop near you ask them for help.

Hi Meaty and welcome to the board. Lots of great white "Stickies" made rite there. Check with your local wine mechant and am sure he can guide you. Yulamba makes some nice along with Penfolds. Not too many sweet reds I'd reccommend. WW

And don't forget about the desert wine class (noted in the above response) with stuff like late harvest rieslings and icewines!

Going a little higher in alcohol, Aussies' liquer tokays are usually stunning for the sweeter-toothed. I'm a huge fan of Morris Liquer Tokay, made in Rutherglen, Vic. It's not a bank-breaker, either. (Around AU$20-25, I would guess.)
Other ideas from my Li'l Book o' Wine Tasting Notes:

-Peter Lehmann's Noble Semillon
-Gramps Botryis Late Harvest
-De Botroli Deen Vat 5 Botrytis Semillon
-De Bortoli Noble One
-Matua Late Harvest Muscat (NZ, but should be available in Oz.)
