My husband and I are newbies to wine, and differ in tastes.. but we both really like Zinfandels... the red of course.
Can somebody please suggest a good one? We have tried some and liked them. We really enjoyed the Robert Modavi(sp?).
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Organia the beautiful thing about this board is you can cruise the various threads at your convienece and get tons of info. If you'll go to the Zinfandel thread, go back 100 days, you'll get loads of insight into one of our favorite grapes. WW

Thanks... and yes, I've looked... but I have another question.
Is there a certain year I should look for? What is a good year for Zinfandel?
I'd love some info.
Thanks

1997 was a classic year for Zin, 98 was pretty mediocre, and 99 was mixed.

A group of friends and I recently had a Zinfandel tasting, and a couple of the favorites were Sobon Estate's Old Vines 2000, and a '97 from Chateau Lorane (which is in your neck of the woods). Both are about $15. Some other good bets are Ravenswood and Seghesio.
