Just got back from my local wine shop and brought these home with me:
Jonsey Old Tawny Port
Concha y Toro Frontera Carmenere 2004
Chateau Ste Michelle Columbia Valley Riesling
2004
I've only tried the Carmenere so far...my first time trying this varietal. I really like it. Reminds me much of a Merlot.

In fact, for many years, people thought that in the past that carmenere was merlot. This was known as the lost grape. DNA analysis recently proved that it was not merlot but the old Bordeaux grape, carmenere. It has almost become chile’s indigenous grape variety.

Interesting....I'm really enjoy this stuff!!! My next door neighbor told me the same. If I'm correct, it's normally used in blends but has recently become it's own varietal...correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right! There are a few wineries in the south of France that are using it alone but it's primary purpose was for blending.
