I am wondering if any of you wine connoisseur's could help this amature out. I am buying a gift for a very close friend and all he drinks is Silver Oak Cab. Could anyone please reference me to the best year/vintage of the silver oak cab? Please keep in mind that I need to but this at a wine store so extreamly rear bottles will be of no use. Thank you all for your input in advance.

I'm not the Cabernet Sauvignon expert but of recent vintages 2001 might be a good one. Also there is Silver Oak from Napa Valley and from Alexander Valley. Winoweenie or KC Whippet may be able to help you out.

Thanks for your help. I will see if they know anything further on this. Winoweenie or KC, do you have any advice?

While tha alexander valley is trendy, the Napa is the better juice, hands down. As for recent vintages, shoot for 97, 99, or 01.

Hi ben and welcome to the board. Just got my S.O. Alex Valley 2001 and highly recommend the bottling. Ran about 60 per here in the valley and is about as good as they've bottled in the last 10 years. Your local wine shop should have just gotten their allocation. WW
