Hi..I have never tasted any wine...but I am really interested in finding differences among some wines.

What is the difference between Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz? What about for Chardonnay and Riesling(is there such wine?) ?

I am female, fairly small, asian, and I am just about to start. What type of wines from the above would be better for me to start with?

Thanks again.

Hi Chickhead and welcome to the board. I think most beginning wine drinkers prefer a wine with some redidual sugar. I'd reccommend a Feisling at least of Kabinett level and if you can afford them, Spatlese level of sugar. For cheaper wines you could try a white zinfandel from Calif such as Sutter Home or Beringer. Let us know your reactions. WW

That's "Riesling", versus "Feisling". Ol' WW's Fractured Fingers strike again!
