I hope this doesn't offend anyone! I am very curious if the first wine I ever tasted is still being made.....Pagan Pink Ripple?

Also, can anyone tell me what an "ice wine" is? I heard of it when I was in Germany, on the Mosel.

Thanks.

Wow! Talk about the alpha and the omega! The Pagan Pink is just about at the bottom of our food chain here, and I may get chastized for even discussing it. There is no wine snobbery involved here. It is just that it is one of those wines that is deliberately manufactured to appeal to the most unfortunate members of our society.

The "ice wine", on the other hand, is one of the most distinguished and expensive wines in the world. It is a very sweet dessert wine, normally sold in half size bottles. To make it growers leave some of their crop, usually but not always Reisling, on the vines until the first frost occurs. Then in the middle of night, by tourchlight, the grapes are carefully hand harvested, crushed, and fermented. Most ice wine is made in Germany as you suggest. Some is also made in California, NorthWest US, and in Canada. A half bottle will run around $50.00, and provide very enjoyable after dinner sipping.

Pagan Pink likely hasn't a drop of wine in it, if it still is being produced. I'd bet it is grain alcohol with flavoring, and it has a criminal record the size of Adrian Messenger's list!
